Technologies in a globalized business world are
important because businessmen save time and money. As a company incurs in less
costs, more information can be sent or received quickly and efficiently.
Describe the use of the technologies in the communication field.
Technologies in the field of communication have helped
us to have faster ways to communicate messages. That is why it is important for
me to mention those technologies:
Internet: Helps to communicate with one another in a
faster and more efficient way that contributes to optimizing teamwork.
Online Library Catalogs and Other Database: The search
for information was made easier because now you do not need a laborious search
for information in libraries, you only need to use the search engine for the
databases and online catalogs of the libraries you want.
Online Information Services: There is information
exchange between people around the world, not just with those around you.
Commercial Online Information Services: Websites that
provide a variety of information on topics such as news, sports, and the
weather in exchange for a monthly subscription
Electronic Mail: Used to send messages quickly and
efficiently through a computer or cell phone. Not to mention, it's a cheap way
to send messages.
Voice Mail: They are voice messages that you can send
to a person.
Facsimile Machine: It is a way of sending messages,
but physically. They have the ability to transmit the information of a sheet in
a span of 20 seconds.
Telecommuting: It allows the employees of an
organization to transmit their work from their homes to the company offices
with the use of modems, telephone lines and remote workstations.
Cellular Phones: They are a type of radios that are
used to transmit messages over airways. They help to increase productivity as
they cause a more efficient use of time.
Electronic Meetings: These are meetings that allow
people located in different places to interact with each other without the need
to meet in person. This helps to save costs for travel, hotels, food, etc.
What are the Do’s and Don’ts of Electronic Communication?
·
Send
messages on electronic systems that are related to the business and keep the
message highly professional.
·
Do not
flood the system with junk mail.
·
Be
conscious in checking and responding to electronic messages to avoid missing
important information needed to complete your assignments.
·
Remember
you are responsible for the content of an email message if a person denies
commitments made via email someone involved may produce a printed copy of the
email message in question as verification.
·
Read
every message very carefully before you send it
·
Avoid
sending confidential information because the security of emails is low compared
with other media.
·
Decide
whether electronic system is appropriate for your message
·
These
systems are intended for print and mammals, not for formal communication such
as performance appraisals or disciplinary actions.
·
Organize
your message carefully such as you would traditional prepared message
·
Avoid lengthy
detailed information.
How have the
Information & communication technologies changed the structure of business organizations?
· Technology
has listened the strings that bind the traditional company together.
· It is
not necessary for coworkers to be in a single location
· Telecommuting
lets people work where it's more convenient for them
· Technology
can boost profits because it says it costs less for people to produce and
distribute messages.
· It isolates people who have little to no
access to new technologies.
· Email,
faxes, computers and other technologies can increase the pressure of those
people use them because it is easy to feel like you’re are always “plugged in”
with all the business messages that you might receive even when you’re not at
work .
What are the
legal and Ethical implications of the use of technologies? Explain the in detail.
The ethical implications
are:
Privacy and Accessibility: This refers to the fact
that every employee has the right that their privacy is not invaded and that
certain data is not disclosed to those who do not necessarily need it.
Fair Information Practices
Principles (FIP): Obtaining personal information should be a process in which
the security of such information is ensured. This information may be reviewed
by the individual from whom it was obtained and should not be used for other
purposes other than which it was gathered. In case this is not fulfilled the
manager of systems can be held accountable according to the law.
I believe that technology has evolved, but this has to hold users accountable and that is why the last point related to legal and ethical matters seemed very important to me.
ResponderBorrarI find it interesting how technological discoveries marked a moment in history but that all have in common the access to more information.
ResponderBorrarI believe that technology was and continues to be a very important characteristic so that an organization can develop in the best way and know how to create links to obtain more information, data and knowledge.
ResponderBorrarI believe that nowadays sending emails has become a very formal way of communication, because even within the organizations, if they already have a certain level of trust, they use other types of messaging, which helps the points of do's, since it does not generate so many junk mails.
