Assignment #12 - Human Resources

Student's Name: Giselle Rivas Alcantar

NUA: 415485

Task 1 Human Resources

Define Human resources.

Human resources has two meanings. It may be the way of referring to the people who work in an organization, but it is also what the department in charge of managing all the matters related to the employees is called.

What is the role of human resources? Define in detail.

·       Make effective use of human resources.

·       Help develop the performance of employees and the organization in general.

·       Manage the implementation and integration of technology by ensuring that employees know how to use it correctly.

·       Implement strategies that improve the competitiveness of the entire organization.

·       Evaluate the performance of employees so that their compensation is equivalent to it.

What is Capital?

Capital is liquid assets, such as funds or cash that are used to finance a business.

In your opinion, is human resources necessary? Explain.

Yes, I consider that is necessary so that the employees of a company can reach the maximum of their potential through the use of strategies implemented by them.

What are the main areas of Human resources?

·       Recruiting and staffing employees

·       Employee benefits

·       Employee compensation

·       Employee and labor relations

·       Human resources compliance

·       Organizational structure

·       Human resources information and payroll

·       Employee training and development

·

What are the main responsibilities of a Human Resource Manager? Define them in detail.

Human Resources Planning: This means that a human resource manager has the responsibility of planning and achieving organizational objectives. The planning is done as a team with the top management of the company.

Job analysis and design: Here the manager is in charge of ensuring that the right person occupies a position in the company.

Hiring Candidates: HR managers must develop strategies to attract good candidates when jobs are available. When human resources find the perfect candidate for the position, they are in charge of reaching an agreement with him/her so that he/she is hired.

Training and Development: When HR managers hire people, they must train them so that they can optimally fulfill their responsibilities.

Design Workplace Policies: Every good human resources manager must be able to create policies that prevent conflicts and that help the organization to function better. Such as:

·       Standard operating procedures

·       Anti-harassment and non-discrimination

·       Paid leaves, sick leaves, and time-off benefits

·       Meal and break periods

·       Time tracking

·       Employee attendance and punctuality

Monitor Performance: A constant analysis of the performance of the employees must be made to identify the aspects that can be improved.

Maintaining Work Culture: Every manager must ensure that the company has a pleasant working environment in order to keep the organizational culture intact.

Resolve conflict: A human resources manager must always intervene when a problem arises between two or more employers to provide a solution.

Ensure Health and Safety of Employee: When employees are not healthy and safe within the organization, they will not perform at their best. That is why HR must ensure that every employee is safe and in good health condition.

Rewards and Incentives: Every manager must know how to compensate workers based on their performance and other factors, such as punctuality, so that they have the desire to continue working in hopes that their good work will be rewarded.

Which of the responsibilities you mentioned in the previous questions do you think is the most challenging or a HRM? Why?

I think that the most challenging responsibility is "Resolve Conflict" because problems are always going to appear between employees. It is impossible that all is well in employee-employee relations. Managers have to be careful and patient when trying to solve a problem, not to mention that there will be difficult situations where an agreement cannot be reached.

What are the most important skills of a Human Resource Manager?

·       Communication organization

·       Tech savvy

·       Flexibility

·       Patience

·       Negotiation

·       Ethical actions

·       Compassion

·       Commitment

Assignment #10 – MANAGEMENT vs ADMINISTRATION

 TASK 2

Student’s Name: Giselle Rivas Alcantar

NUA: 415485

What are the key differences between management and administration? Explain each of them in detail.

The administration makes the decisions that have more to do with the future of the organization and the management makes less important decisions that are under the limits imposed by the administration.

The administration is in charge of creating policies in an organization and the management ensures that those policies are respected and carried out.

The administration has a high level of authority while the management is at a medium and low level.

The management is responsible for the optimal use of all the resources of an organization and the management must supervise the work of the employees so that it is carried out correctly and resources are not wasted.

Administration is a decisive role and management has an executive role.

Which is better, management or administration? Explain in detail.

I think that the administration is better because it is the one that directs the company, it is the one that decides the course. No matter how good a manager someone is, the company will fail if that manager is following orders from a bad administrative team.

Good management is necessary for everything to work properly but we have to remember that it only supervises that someone else's plans or ideas are carried out correctly.
